Mental Health First Aid
Mental health is important and knowing how to respond effectively can save lives, reduce stigma, and foster a supportive environment. This course equips you with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to recognise, understand and respond to a friend, family member, co-worker or another person experiencing a mental health problem or a mental health crisis.

What will I learn?
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
Recognise the signs and symptoms of mental health problems in adults
Use an evidence-based action plan to initiate a mental health first aid conversation
Know the barriers to help-seeking and how to overcome these
Assess for a range of crisis situations and provide initial support
Understand the prevalence and impact of mental illnesses, risk factors and treatments and supports available
Apply self-care practices as a Mental Health First Aider

Is the course accredited?
Yes. Upon completing the short assessment at the end of your course, you will receive your certificate and be an accredited MHFAider.

HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
Theory Assessment & Practical Assessment
Adult CPR: Perform at least 2 minutes of continuous single-rescuer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), including 5 cycles of compressions and ventilations, on an adult manikin positioned on the floor.
Infant CPR: perform CPR on an infant manikin placed on a firm surface.
Defibrillation: Operate an automated external defibrillator (AED) by following its instructions and prompts.

The simulated assessment environments will mirror real-life conditions, equipped with all the necessary resources relevant to those settings. Students must demonstrate their skills and knowledge in realistic, industry-validated scenarios and simulations designed to provide an in-depth and authentic assessment experience.

HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an Education and Care Setting
This course is a must for educators, support staff, childcare workers and carers of children, as well as new parents. It is suitable for anybody working in daycare, family daycare, preschool and after-school programs and care services.
The HLTAID012 Provide first aid in an education and care setting, covers all the aspects of the Provide First Aid course as well as providing additional training especially in areas of asthma and anaphylaxis specific to the childcare industry
Course Duration
Blended Option - theory (approx 4-5 hours) is completed online before the practical classroom component of 5 hours.
Full face-to-face training where all theory and practical tasks are conducted in your workplace. Duration up to 8 hours.
22578VIC Course in First Aid Management of Anaphylaxis
This course is aimed at school teachers, early childhood workers and educators who work with children in and outside school hours care and vacation programs, as well as existing teachers and child care providers seeking to renew their qualifications.
This course comprises of 2 units of competency taught concurrently.
VU23090 Provide first aid management of anaphylaxis
VU23091 Develop risk minimisation and risk management strategies for anaphylaxis.
Course Duration
Blended Option - theory (approx 2 hours) is completed online before the practical classroom component of 2 hours.

22556VIC Course in the Management of Asthma Risks and Emergencies in the Workplace
VU22927 - This course is aimed at school teachers, early childhood workers and educators who work with children in and outside school hours care and vacation programs, as well as existing teachers and child care providers seeking to renew their qualifications.
This unit of competency provides the skills and knowledge to be able to develop an asthma risk assessment and emergency management strategy to handle asthma episodes in the workplace. You will learn background knowledge of the triggers, signs, symptoms and effects of asthma as well as emergency management.
Course Duration
Blended Option - theory is completed online before the practical classroom component.
Full face-to-face training where all theory and practical tasks are conducted in your workplace.

Entry Requirements
Participants must be physically capable of kneeling on the floor and performing two (2) minutes of continuous CPR on both adult and infant manikins.
Individuals under the age of 18 must submit a signed parental consent form before attending the course.

Unique Student Identifier
All students must have a Unique Student Identifier (USI) to receive a certificate or qualification from their registered training organisation when completing a nationally recognised training course in Australia.
The USI provides access to an online account where all your training records are securely stored, making it easy to track your achievements, even if you relocate, change training providers, or study at different stages of your life. Outcomes
Upon successful completion, participants will receive a nationally recognised statement of attainment in HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The Code of Practice and Australian Resuscitation Council recommends that cardiopulmonary resuscitation skills are refreshed annually.
